Boy Phase
My poor mother. At one point in her life she had an adorable 5 year girl old whose hair she could braid and whose nails she could paint:
For a whole year she had to deal with an adorable 10 year old boy who only cared about soccer and wearing baggy t-shirts:
I think it's about time I explained my boy phase. I guess I was a pretty sporty kid; in grade 4 we used to play soccer on the lower field (now that I think about it there was most definitely not an upper field but who's counting fields anyway..) every recess until there was too much snow on the ground. I guess we were the ultimate tom boys. Never wore girly things, never did girly things, never talked about girly things. In grade 4 Hanna came to our school and she had short hair. By the beginning of grade 5 Kelly had cut hers short too, then a bit later Sarah cut hers as well. I guess i'm just a big copy cat cause I was the last to go. I remember it so well, we went to the hair dresser and she cut off like half my hair. My mom made her stop at bob length and attempted to convince me that it was 'SO CUTE!' I clearly was not buying it as I was way to cool for 'cute' and forced the dude to cut it exactly like my brothers.
So there we were: 4 boys in school girl uniforms. Went straight to the boys section of Gap, wore boys bathing suits until mother nature took over, dared each other to pee in the boys bathroom, i'm pretty sure at one point we even picked out boy names and we were absolutely deathly allergic to pink (we actually told people this). My poor mother, she was constantly correcting innocent sales people and old friends when they complimented her on her gorgeous sons. I guess she decided to take action when at the beginning of grade 6 she bought me 2 bracelets. One was red and one was green. I thought they were the shit and immediately started wearing them every day. Soon after my friends who I had followed turned around and followed me all the way to pony tails, tank tops and even pink. I like to take all the credit for the conversion, but I guess I really owe it all to Kelly J for finally stepping up to the plate to get her daughter back on track.
(Sort-of. Grade 7 consisted of the same hairstyle every day: spice girls-esque, two buns on either side of my head. Matching clips on each side. Maybe i should have stuck with the boy thing...)

Trunk Down cntd.
Well, I decided to get the other half of what is known to some as L squared to cover for me with the kids on Saturday because I just had to get out of London and do some boarding. I went to Collingwood to hang and ride with my winter family. Did some boarding, did some hanging, did some villageing. Dani B swiped up third place due to her very pretty front board 270 outski & more. (She thanks me for that trick.) Go her and her jean boardin!
Later in the evening some conversation was had about elephants and whether or not an elephant whose trunk is down is bad luck. I have an elephant necklace whose trunk is up and it's never brought me good luck per se, and I've never heard of anyone experiencing a bout of bad luck while in possession of one that appears to be sniffing the ground, but this has now changed. That evening I acquired a little black elephant, nose down. He went into my coat pocket and stayed there until I began the very early morning mission back to my children. Back roads and fast speeds seem like an excellent idea to me, especially very early in the morning, and especially on a Sunday. No cars and no apparent need to stick to the speed limit. Right? .. Wrong.
As soon as the cop went back to his car to write me that bad boy I remembered my new friend hanging out in my pocket. Needless to say his new home quickly became the floor of my car. My strategy for court: tears.
That being said, a theory discriminating against trunk-down elephants can't be tested solely on one unfortunate event, so, I have made it my mission this week to bring him with me everywhere I go to see if the luck continues to go sour. Today, for instance, my london fog came WITHOUT vanilla. The little trunk down was in my school bag hanging over my shoulder as I ordered. Coincidence? I think not.

I wish I was making enough money NOT SNOWBOARDING this weekend to buy myself this:
Instead, i'll make just enough to keep me from burying myself alive in the snow. Loneliest weekend of my life begins at 3:30pm when school's out for two whole days. WHAT am I going to do with these kids? 'Contest to see who can make the most snowmen, winner gets a prize, go.'? Thank the lordy for Family Channel and Hannah fucking Montana.
Have fun snowboarding, and don't tell me about how fantastic it was when you get back.

Why go snowboarding when you can be a nanny?
Instead of heading north to make the first turns of the season with all my friends i'm stuck being a nanny for 5 days. (4 more!) Sarah, 9 and Lukas, 12 are my children for the weekend until their parents come home from Vegas. VEGAS. Fuck them.
ME! (Minus the horrendous outfit and cartoon esque features.. the kids are a bit bigger too.. mind you I still carry Sarah around like a 1 year old.)
Hopefully I wont shoot myself and hopefully Sarah cries under 10 times. I think i'd just rather be snowboarding...... At least i got the seal of approval from Sarah this morning "Luisa, You're the BEST BABYSITTER EVER!" Super.

SNOW
Woke up this morning to the best thing ever: Falling snow and lots more of it already on the ground. I immediately hit up my absolute favourite website and smiled when this appeared:
Snow every single day but Saturday?? Unreal. BUT this is only the beginning of the good news! Snow has been falling all over Ontario and both MSLM and Horseshoe are scheduled to open this weekend! Thats right, 2 opening days in one weekend. Lets just take a moment for how amazing this is.
Thats Louis... NO BIG..Blue Village..
Take that all you Whistler kids who've been talking non stop about opening days. Ours are on their way! Too bad i'm stuck babysitting all weekend long and can't take advantage. If you're heading up north to enjoy your first turns of the season I am extremely envious. Take one or two for me? YAY WINTER!

quite possibly the two most annoying/frustrating words to see on an internet browser window.
seriously, just respond!

don't have friends who smoke.
October
Has been over for a while but I forgot this thing existed.
I started making a playlist on itunes for each month cause then I can be all 'what was that song i liked bunches in October?' and hit up my October playlist to find it.
Some of the songs I discovered in October, others I rediscovered in October.
Some are old, some are new.
Some are actually from September or August or something because this is the first month I did this.
Ya.. October:

I've been roamin' around...
Detroit is the strangest place I have ever been. That being said it was well worth the trip to see Kings of Leon last night. Un-fucking-real. They played for 2 hours and close to every song I wanted to hear was done. Nathan's voice was flawless. Jared was a babe. The whole thing was gnarly. I assumed the place would be packed with little hipster kids but the crowd was so rad. 90% of the people there looked like typical US frat jocks... frat jocks who knew every single word to every single song. That also blew me away. Toronto would have been such a scene festival so it was nice to just stand and enjoy.
